What To Test
With It.
Use pink noise, 1 kHz tones, and low-frequency sweeps to balance speakers and subwoofers.
Check left/right routing, distortion, rattles, tweeter response, woofer response, and crossover behavior.
Practice identifying frequencies and tonal regions using exact tone presets.
Use slow sweeps and pink noise to identify room resonances, dead zones, and flutter echoes.

Use Test Signals
Carefully.
Begin at a very low hardware volume. Test signals can reach full-scale quickly even when they do not sound loud.
Square and sawtooth waves contain strong harmonics. Avoid high levels, especially at high frequencies.
Low-frequency sine waves and brown noise can create high cone excursion. Do not run them loudly for long periods.
The digital level is controlled here, but your interface, operating system, amplifier, and speaker volume still determine the final acoustic level.
