How To Use
White Noise.
Route noise to left, right, and both channels to confirm each speaker and signal path works.
Switch between left and right at the same level. Large differences may indicate gain, placement, room, or equipment imbalance.
Walk through the room at a safe level. Changes in brightness and loudness can reveal reflections and uneven response.
Compare left/right output and listen for driver imbalance, distortion, buzzes, or rattles.
Use continuous noise to trace routing through interfaces, mixers, patchbays, processors, and monitor controllers.
Set A Known
Listening Level.
Turn your monitor controller, interface, amplifier, or headphone level down before starting.
Use -20 dBFS for calibration or -30 to -40 dBFS for safer technical checks.
Use a calibrated SPL meter or measurement microphone. Browser output alone cannot determine acoustic SPL.
Keep the digital reference fixed and adjust monitor gain until the target acoustic level is reached.
White Noise Is
Not Pink Noise.
Equal energy per Hz. It sounds bright and is useful for broadband technical checks.
Equal energy per octave. It is generally preferred for practical speaker and room calibration.
